Steps To Getting A Website
Here are the basic
steps in getting a website (We have listed them in order of importance, so
you could actually print this page and use it as a website checklist).
- Website
Domain Names - The Domain Name (Yourwebsitename.com) may be
purchased from any registrar (Or Domain Name Seller). We actually prefer
Godaddy.com because they have been reliable to offer a better price than
most by selling domain names normally around 9 dollars A year. It is
suggested that you purchase your Domain Name initially for at least a
(2) year period. (Read details about
website domain names)
- Website Hosting -
After you have purchased your domain name and your website is being
built or has been built,
it has to be uploaded to the world wide web. (It has to go somewhere)
This is where you would choose a Hosting Company. There are many different web hosting companies and it's your job to
choose one. Website hosting may be purchased monthly (normally around
7-10 dollars per month) or you can purchase website hosting on a yearly
basis (normally around 120 dollars per year). We prefer Addr.com due to
the fact they have a great uptime and rarely have server issues and
they are fairly cheap and offer support for just about anything a
website would need. (Read details about
web hosting)
- Website Programs -
Now that you have secured a good domain name and set up the web hosting,
it is now time to choose how you are going write the website. If you
know HTML it is possible to write your website from note pad or even
from excel or Microsoft Word. In that event, you will need a way to get
it published to the web host. You will eventually have to decide if you
are going to write the website or have a web
designer do it for you.

- Website Clean Up
- Now that you have a website, DO NOT SUBMIT IT TO THE SEARCH ENGINES
without making sure it is cleaned up and ready for search engine
submission. Don't publish your website with any external links (links
going out to other websites), that will accidentally cause the search
engines to crawl your site just by linking to someone else. You Must
check your site for valid code, and typos and any other mistakes. Even
if you have used a web design service, you should insist that they check
for ANY MISTAKES. Most web design companies rarely check for correctly
written websites.

- Website Submission
- Now that you have the domain name, the web hosting, chosen a way to
get your website written and have cleaned it up, it should now be ready
for Search Engine Submission. After all that hard work, be sure not to
fall short here or overshoot your website submission. Website Submission
is free to most of the Search Engines if you know where to go to submit
your site for inclusion. (Read details about
website submission)
- Linking Campaign -
Now that your website has been uploaded to the internet and submitted to
the major search engines, now the time comes to build a Linking Campaign
and link your website out to other sites like yours and allow them to
link back. This will make your website stronger and more relevant to the
search engines, but you will have to be very careful of many things. One
wrong link can spell disaster for your entire website. (Read details
about linking campaigns)
- Website Ranking -
Now that the website is on the worldwide web, you will want to know how
and where to check if your website is Ranked on the Search Engines.
There are many "Automated" programs or tools that will do this for you,
BUT BEWARE - NEVER USE AUTOMATED TOOLS TO CHECK YOUR RANKING. Automated
tools can lead to search engine spamming and get your entire website
penalized or even worse, Banned. (Read details about
website ranking)
- Paid Inclusion -
After checking the ranking of your website, you may have great news or
some much dreaded bad news and may even consider some sort of Pay Per
Click or Paid Inclusion. We have published a very informative page all
about paid inclusion and we think it is worth a read before you decide.
